The BOINC_DIR environment variable (seen on Unix and mentioned earlier in this thread) does not seem to be looked at in Windows. The -dir command doesn't redirect to a new data folder, just application home. Version 7 is giving me a catch 22 when attempting this method ( ) as it is looking for a cc_config.xml in the data folder, instead of the home folder, and that file is where to store the new data directory path (if that still works). One of my machines is running 6.10.60 as a portable install now.Īttempting to get this working for 7 without relying on registry entries has been a dismal failure so far. I'm attempting to get a portable installation (per ) working and have succeeded with 6.10.60 just by copying over the exe/dll files over the earlier version by Oluf. ![]() So is there no Windows option to tell the client to look in a new directory either by changing an environment variable or command line parameter? And those are the simplest ways.Īs for the Wiki and it missing things, if you (general you) want to add things like this, ask David Anderson for an account and go write to your heart's content. The OP may have asked for "Why is there not a simple option to do this?", but at the same time neglected to state what operating system they have (posting it in another thread doesn't count), which is why I posted how to do it for every OS. For the question of how to move the data directory/directories there, best ask the package maintainer. The repository version may be a little more difficult to move around as depending on the Linux distribution, its files are written to multiple directories. Well, as long as you used the Berkeley version. In Linux you can move the data directory to wherever you want. Hence the uninstall/move/reinstall sequence. In Windows Vista/7/8/8.1/all the server versions you can't just move directories around as then you break read/write permissions on the directory. You can check the BOINC Manager's Event Log to see if the data directory being used changed to /home/martianstorm/boinc_data. Start the boinc client = sudo service boinc-client start Add an # in front of the BOINC_DIR="/var/lib/boinc-client" line and then add the following below that line BOINC_DIR="/home/martianstorm/boinc_data" and save the file then exit the text editor.ĥ. Edit the /etc/default/boinc-client file to point to the new data directory = sudo gedit /etc/default/boinc-client and look for the entry that starts with # This is the data directory of the BOINC core client. Make sure permissions are set correctly = sudo chown boinc:boinc -R /home/martianstorm/boinc_data/*Ĥ. 3/2/2024 0 Comments Medieval castles![]() Their campaign against the beer tax was unsuccessful.A step-by-step guide to exploring the best castles in and near London. After raising banners along the castle walls and pelting passing police officers with rotten fruit, they were eventually detained and removed from the castle, though a public outcry of support led to none of the students being prosecuted for their actions. In addition to barricading the castle gates and lowering the portcullis, they captured the only guard on duty and locked him in a closet. "The Battle of Gravensteen Castle" took place in 1949 when 138 students from the University of Ghent occupied the castle over a new tax on beer. The Gravensteen was the centrepiece of the Ghent World Fair of 1913 during which the city centre was significantly reshaped. Many details added during this period, such as the flat roofs and the windows of the eastern outbuilding, are not thought to be historically accurate. De Waele was inspired the approach of the French architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc and attempted to restore the castle to its imagined appearance in the 12th century. Parts of the castle were bought up gradually by the City of Ghent which began a major restoration in a romanticising Gothic style between 18 under the architect Joseph de Waele. During the Industrial Revolution, the Gravensteen was converted into a cotton mill by an industrialist who purchased the site. From 1353 to 1491, it was the site of Ghent's mint and private buildings were later constructed on or around the Medieval remains. It was used as a court and prison until the 18th century. ![]() Īfter ceasing to be the residence of the counts of Flanders, the castle entered a decline. The decision to leave was taken by Louis of Male (1330–1384) who transferred the court to the nearby Hof ten Walle. It also has a sizeable moat, fed with water from the Lys.įrom 1180 until 1353, the Gravensteen was the residence of the Counts of Flanders. These are surrounded by a fortified, oval-shaped enceinte lined with 24 small échauguettes. It incorporates a large central donjon, a residence and various smaller buildings. ![]() As well a protective citadel, the Gravensteen was intended to intimidate the burghers of Ghent who often challenged the counts' authority. It may have been inspired by crusader castles witnessed by Philip during the Second Crusade. The current castle dates to 1180 and was built by Philip of Alsace (1143–1191) on the site of the older fortification. This was soon transformed into a motte-and-bailey castle which burnt down in around 1176. The site, which sat between two branches of the river Lys, was first fortified around 1000, initially in wood and later in stone. The origins of the Gravensteen date to the reign of Arnulf I (890–965). It was restored over 1893–1903 and is now a museum and a major landmark in the city. It was subsequently re-purposed as a court, prison, mint, and even as a cotton factory. The current castle dates from 1180 and was the residence of the Counts of Flanders until 1353. 'the Counts' rock') is a medieval castle in the city of Ghent, East Flanders in Belgium. ![]() The original Google Talk user base from 2005 was upgraded to Google Hangouts in 2013, and now those Google Hangouts users will be upgraded to Google Chat at some point. Google has launched (and shut down) many chat apps over the years-Google Talk, Voice, Buzz, Disco, Google+ Messenger, Hangouts, Spaces, Allo, etc.-but one user base has kept it all running throughout this chaos. It was Google's competitor to Slack, the $27 billion enterprise chat app, and was renamed three years later to "Google Chat." Starting today, Google Chat is also being drafted into service as a consumer chat app and will eventually replace Google Hangouts, Google's most popular chat product. It was first announced in 2017 as "Hangouts Chat" and was exclusive to Google Workspace/GSuite. Google Chat has had a long and eventful life as a service. AdvertisementĪlso in today's batch of announcements: Google Chat, Google's latest messaging app, is rolling out for all consumer accounts. Normally, this status says "Active" and has a green dot next to it, but you can switch to "Do not disturb" or "Invisible" so you can get some work done. Chat has to be shown in a full-screen interface for the button to appear.Īnother new widget you'll probably spot in the Gmail UI is the selectable Google Chat status in the top right corner. The interface also doesn't work if you have Chat in a pop-up window. "Open in Chat" seems like an odd name for this button since it's opening the document inside, but this split-screen interface does not actually work if you receive the link via email. A split-screen interface with Google Chat on the left and the Google Doc on the right will also appear. If someone pastes a Google Docs link into Google Chat, you can mouse over the thumbnail and click "Open in Chat," which will open the Google Doc inside a new, multipane interface inside Gmail, with your navigation sidebar on the left. With today's change, there are new sections with a spot for Google Chat "rooms" (or group chats, which are now separate from regular contacts) and a section for Google Meet (so you can make video calls).Īlthough it's not in the sidebar, Google Docs also have Gmail integration. Gmail has long featured a segmented sidebar that includes a chat program-first Google Talk (from 2005), then Google Hangouts (2013), and currently Google Chat (2018). The "unified" Gmail UI mostly takes the form of a segmented sidebar design with all sorts of Google apps in it. Today, though, Google is officially making the feature available to all Google users. In August, this change started rolling out to paid Google Workspace accounts, and it has experimentally appeared on some consumer accounts. And Gmail's big merger with Google Chat, Google Docs, and Google Meet (Google's Zoom competitor) is also coming to consumer accounts.Īlmost a year ago, Google announced a significant change for Gmail that would turn it from a simple email app into a "single, integrated experience" where you could send email, chat, work on a Google Doc, and make video calls, all from one browser-based super-app. Google Chat, the company's latest messaging app, is now open to everyone. ![]() Google is moving two big features from Google Workspace (Google's paid tier of business Google accounts, formerly called "G Suite") to free, consumer Google accounts. I-RORA is defined as 1) a regional of signal hypertransmission into the choroid, 2) a corresponding zone of attenuation or disruption of the RPE, and 3) evidence of overlying photoreceptor degeneration, that is, subsidence of the INL and OPL, presence of a hyporeflective wedge in the Henle fiber layer, thinning of the ONL, disruption of the ELM or, disintegrity of the EZ. On OCT, they appear as “dome-shaped hyperreflective mound bounded posteriorly by the inner aspect of the RPE and anteriorly by the EZ, ELM, or outer aspect of the ONL” (Figure 9).ĬAM Report 6 defined i-RORA and c-RORA and their findings were published in January 2022. Acquired vitelliform lesions can be seen in multiple conditions but there are specific appearances for the ones associated with AMD. Hyperreflective crystalline deposits, also known as sub-RPE plaques, are linear deposits between the sub-RPE and basal lamina (Figure 8). On OCT, they can appear as ribbon or dot pattern and are most commonly seen in the superior macula. Subretinal drusenoid deposits, also known as reticular pseudodrusen, are materials that has accumulated between the RPE and photoreceptors (Figure 7). This can be seen even before outer retinal tissue is lost (Figure 6). Focal changes in drusen, such as thickened or thinned, disintegrated or absent RPE, lead to hypertransmission OCT changes in the choroid. ![]() Specific qualitative drusen and drusenoid pigment epithelial detachment features were described. Intraretinal hyperreflective foci are described as “discrete, well-circumscribed, punctate lesions in a single or clustered distribution that are of equal or greater reflectivity than that of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE)” (Figure 5). ![]() First, inner and outer retinal abnormalities were described as “inner nuclear layer (INL) and outer plexiform layer (OPL) subsidence, hyporeflective wedges, external limiting membrane (ELM) descent, outer nuclear layer (ONL) thinning, ELM and ellipsoid zone (EZ) integrity loss, and hyper-transmission of the OCT signal into the choroid”. There were six main features highlighted in this report. The Classification of Atrophy Meeting (CAM) Report 5 (published in September 2021) provided image-based descriptions associated with the development of geographic atrophy.
